Pfleiderer receives design award for BalanceBoard sustainable panels
Engineered wood products manufac-
turer Pfleiderer Industrie received the
2011 Design Plus Award from Material
Vision, given by the Frankfurt Exhibition
Center and the DesignCouncil, for its
BalanceBoard.
With this award from Material Vision,
BalanceBoard is automatically nominated for the Design Prize of the Federal
Republic of Germany. The company’s
Pfleiderer was given a design award for
its sustainable BalanceBoard product.
BalanceBoard, for which it was given
the award, is a sustainable alternative to
standard chipboard panels.
“We are delighted to receive this
award and are very proud that BalanceBoard, after four years of intensive development work, has been able to establish
itself on the market so quickly and collect
so many awards,” said Stefan Göldner,
marketing manager of Pfleiderer Industrie.
Hotel industry forms ustainable wood furniture purchasing consortium
A group of hotel industry leaders launched the Hospitality Sustainable Purchasing Consortium
to facilitate sustainability in hotel
wood furniture and fixtures.
The group, led by sustainability
consulting firm MindClick SGM,
aims to develop an industry-wide
hospitality sustainable purchasing
index to measure the sustainability
of furniture suppliers and products
sold. The group will also work to
establish consistent measures of
sustainable purchasing performance. MindClick SGM and
consortium members will work
together to improve alignment of
its hospitality sustainable purchasing index with industry-accepted
sustainability standards like the
LEED rating system.
