There is lots of discussion in the woodworking industry about how software
plays a critical role in manufacturing and
design, but little attention has been paid
to its valuable role in estimating, bidding
and pricing. CabinetMakerFDM’s Center
for Woodworking Innovation webinar
series will address that with the next
presentation set for Dec. 15.
“How Software Aids Estimating” will
feature software industry experts showing
and explaining how software can be just as
essential in the business number crunching
side as it is in design and manufacturing.
Top speakers
As in the other webinars in the series,
the software presentation features
top industry experts. Russ Wheelock,
president and founder of Trade Soft, has
been on the cutting edge of estimating and job management software for
custom manufacturers for 15 years. Prior
to TradeSoft, Wheelock was a consultant, analyst, and software developer for
several fortune 500 companies. He holds
an M.B.A. from Georgia State University
and a B. A. from the University of Florida.
Joining Wheelock in the presentation
will be Ken Frye from KCD Software.
Frye has extensive knowledge and background in the custom woodworking industry, starting in 1986 as a cabinetmaker and installer in a custom cabinet shop.
Little attention has been
paid to the valuable role
of software in estimating.
From there he combined his knowledge
of computers with cabinetmaking in his
current position as he plays a significant
role in the programming and development of KCD’s Cabinet and Closet Software. Most recently he has worked to
assist cabinet and closet professionals in
growing their business through the use
of computer aided design technology.
He conducts web based training seminars and creates comprehensive on-line
video tutorials that help end-users best
maximize KCD Software.
